iDeal is an online payment method, or an e-wallet, which operates from the Netherlands. You can make safely transactions through linking your credit or debit card to the services offered by iDeal. If you benefit of online banking from your provider, then you can already start using the services without having to go through any extra formalities.
The banks that work directly with iDeal include the ABN Amro, ING, Rabobank, Triodos Bank, and SNS Regio Bank. Currently, there are negotiations going on with some other banks as well, so that a greater palette will be available.
At the moment, only banks that operate within the Netherlands accept transactions through iDeal, however in the near future it is possible that it will also be accepted internationally. It is a secure online shopping and banking method, all you need to do is select the account that you want debited, give authorization, and the respective account is shortly debited, so that the payment can be made towards the online merchant you selected.
